Mohona:In a shocking incident a 60 year old beaten to death and the body was burnt in Mohone PS limits of Gajapati district.Though the incident,reportedly took place on tuesday night,but came to fore today,after six day of the grue some killing.The deceased has been identified as Kambi malik of Kuihuru village.On the incident night Kambi was alone in his house and on the next day on wednessday,when his son Mina,daughter Sundari reached the house,found their father absent.Thinking that he might left for a stroll,they started their regular sweeping.While cleaning the varandha,Sundari spotted of clotted blood drops,what created suspecion of a untoward incident.By the time Mina left for wash and when he returned Sundari told him about the blood drops.Soon the duo started search for their father,as Kambi did not returned.They enquired about kambi with relatives and known persons,but none able to answer,what increased their doubt on the wellbeing of their father.After a search for two days,they got the information that a group of the villagers killed Kambi infront of his house on late night of tuesday and took the deadbody to the outskrits of the village and set fire to the body.The killers on the fateful night reached the house of Kambi abused him,accusing him as a sorcery practioner.Though Kambi pleaded his inocense,but the killers reportedly in inebriated state not in a position to listen and attacked him.Sometime later the body turned motionless and to destroy the crime,the killers took the body and placed on fire.Kambi was a village quack and treat the patients said a local Sukru malik.However some others alleged that Kambi used to harass the women folk in the village often and the killing might be a fallout.As many villagers are aware about the killing,but remained mum fearing the killers,Mina and Sundari too kept silent.However,somehow the information reached Mohona police,who reached the village today.Seeing the police,most of the male in the village fled from the village.After repeated persuation,some villagers identified the spot,where Kambi`s body was burnt down.Police seized remainants and ash from the spot and sent for medical examination.According to IIC,B.K.Sethy,some of the killers group who are reportedly hiding in the nearby forest,has been identified and would be nabbed soon.Our investigation is on to ascertain the reason of the killing the IIC said.PIX:Police at the spot where Kambi was burnt down.
