3 KILLED IN ROAD MISHAP

Keonjhar:Three persons were killed in a road mishap in Suakati area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Friday.As per official sources, the mishap took place when the three were travelling on a bike in Suakati area under the jurisdiction of Keonjhar Sadar Police Station in the afternoon. A speeding truck reportedly dashed against their bike.The deceased have been identified as Sanat Naik (21), Sipun Naik (22) and Bibhu Barik (15) of Suakati.Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road mishap and conveyed sympathies to the bereaved families.Majhi also announced ex-gratia of Rs four lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).Sources said a speeding truck hit the trio’s bike from the front while they were travelling to Keonjhar from Suakati.One of them died on the spot while the locals rescued the two others and rushed them to Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition and succumbed later.The truck driver along with the vehicle reportedly fled the spot soon after the mishap, reports said.Angry over the incident, hundreds of locals staged a road blockade on Suakati-Keonjhar road, causing traffic disruptions.The road blockade was lifted after the police reached the spot and pacified the agitators.The police have registered three cases in connection with the road mishap and launched a probe.
