Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): In a major welfare announcement for the media fraternity, Paralakhemundi MLA Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi has pledged to provide free advanced medical treatment for journalists of Gajapati district and extend support for the higher education of their children.
Addressing the annual function of the Gajapati district unit of the Utkal Journalists’ Association, the MLA said he would personally bear the cost of advanced and emergency treatment for journalists at Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital. He also assured free assistance for major surgeries and other healthcare needs.
Panigrahi further announced that children of journalists studying at Hi-Tech Medical College would receive educational support and other facilities free of cost.
The announcement was warmly welcomed by journalists attending the event. Mohana MLA Dasarathi Gamang, Gajapati SP Prahlad Sahai Meena, and Pragatibadi Executive Editor Birupaksha Tripathy were among the dignitaries present. The meeting was chaired by senior journalist Dwijendra Nath Padhi, president of the association.
