Paralakhemundi,(Tarini Prasad Panda): A shocking and heart rending incident has come to the light in Paralakhemundi town where a 10 year old boy was allegedly striped naked, tied to an iron pole under the blazing sun and physically assaulted. Police have arrested Balram Panda a temple priest in connection with the incident.According to report, the incident occured on Sunday afternoon at the Hanuman temple premises near the Gundicha Temple in Parlakhemundi. The boy was playing in the temple compound when the priest allegedly caught him and accused him of theft. Despite the child’s repeated denial of the allegation, the priest stripped him naked and assulted.
Locals who protested, informed the police after witnessing it. The video of the incident also went viral. Child Development Committee lodged an FIR in Adarsh Police station, Parlakhemundi, said IIC Prashant Kumar Bhupati. Police have registered a case no.: 262/26 under sections 126(2), 127(2), 196, 115(2), 352(2), 75 JJ Act and 12 Posco Act. The child has been admitted into Paralakhemundi District Headquarter Hospital.The father of the child died earlier, mother is working as a migrant labourer in Andhra Pradesh and the boy is residing with his grandmother.
