Mohona:With the arrest of ten persons including 8 women,the mystery that shrouds over the brutal murder of a 60 year old man of Kuihuru village under Mohona PS limits in Gajapati district has been solved.The deceased has been identified as Kambi Malik of Kuihuru village was killed on last tuesday(3/6/2025) and his body was burnt down on the outskrit of the village.Somehow,police got the inforamtion on 8/6/2025 and seized ash,bones etc from the place.Though initially it was suspected that Kambi was killed on the suspecion of sorcery practioner,since he was treating patients with puja and roots,but later police gathered that the reason of murder was for other reason.During investigation police on yesterday apprehended the ten persons,who reportedly confessed their crime.They alleged as Kambi repeatedly sexually assaulting widows of their village,after the death of his wife four years back,initially they tried to refrain Kambi from such activities.As he continued his henious act and finding no other way,they killed him and burnt down.According to IIC,Basant sethy,the victim women attacked Kambi with the help of some males,while he was asleep.Of the 8 women,six claimed they were sexually assulted by Kambi in the past.The arrested ten persons has been forwarded to court today said the IIC adding that some more villagers likely to be arrested soon.
